SKF announces the SKF Double Clutch Bearing Set and clutch support angular contact ball bearing, specifically designed for double clutch transmissions. They are robust performing products that are able to resist very high temperature and loads, which improve transmission reliability, as well as achieving an extended lifetime in a compact package.
SKF software is used to rapidly optimize the design proposals for each customer application, and validation is made by simulation and rig-testing according to the expected operating conditions.
Double clutch transmissions deliver higher efficiency and reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions, compared to standard transmissions.
SKF Double Clutch Bearing Set
SKF Double Clutch Bearing Set is used to decouple the engine from the gearbox for gear changing. The two bearing units can be used in dry or wet clutch applications, and are very compact and lightweight, utilizing sheet metal stampings for the structural components.
The internal bearing geometry has been optimized to minimize contact pressure and to be able to carry the very high loads associated with double clutch transmissions. Selected materials have been used for the bearing cage, grease and seals (for dry clutches), to withstand the increased temperatures in such transmissions.
The design includes self alignment and radial guiding of the bearings plus support possibilities for actuations by mechanical fork contact or hydraulic piston.
SKF clutch support bearing
This angular contact ball bearing guides and locates the clutch driving plate as it transfers loads from the engine to the gearbox. Designed to carry very high axial loads coming from the two clutches, it is greased and sealed for life with selected materials to withstand even higher temperatures than the double clutch bearing set; up to 240°C.
