Tokyo, Japan, July 30, 2009 – NSK Ltd. (NSK; Headquarters: Tokyo, Japan; President and CEO: Norio Otsuka) has announced the restructuring of its production network in Europe in order to further bolster the profitability its steering business.
1. Outline of production restructuring
NSK plans to close the steering plant of NSK Steering Systems Europe Ltd. (NSSE) located in the United Kingdom and transfer and consolidate NSSE’s production lines to other steering plants, mainly NSK Steering Systems Europe (Polska) SP. Zo. O. (NSSP), which is located in Walbrzych, Poland, by the middle of 2010. Doing so will enhance the profitability of our European steering operations. NSSP will concentrate on the production of electric power steering (EPS) systems, which are experiencing a rise in demand, and will strive to meet the growing needs of the market by supplying high-quality, competitive EPS products.
