SKF has launched its E2 bearings, which have been specifically engineered and manufactured to reduce frictional moment by 30 per cent or more beyond the efficient SKF standard bearings.
By exhibiting ultra-low friction, the bearings enable equipment manufacturers to build greater energy efficiency into equipment, reducing the total cost of ownership for end users.
As the bearings are dimensionally interchangeable with ISO standard components, conventional bearings can be upgraded to reduce the energy consumption of existing equipment.
A variety of SKF E2 bearing types will be available in common sizes, starting with single-row, deep-groove ball bearings.
These ultra-low friction bearings offer a way to reduce mechanical friction in light-to-normal loaded applications, such as electric motors, pumps and conveyors.
As the SKF E2 bearings run cooler than standard bearings at equivalent loads and speeds, additional benefits include longer grease life and extended relubrication intervals.
SKF's range of energy-efficient bearings are designed for use in a wide range of industrial equipment, including motors, fans, pumps and gearboxes, in sectors ranging from renewable power generation to transportation.
SKF E2 tapered roller bearings are now available for automotive applications.
E2 spherical and cylindrical roller bearings will be released later this year.
