SKF Top Ranked in the Carbon Disclosure Leadership Index

SKF has once again taken pole position in the area of sustainability. SKF is ranked second in the Leadership Index among the carbon intensive companies in the five Nordic countries.



The ranking was presented by the Carbon Disclosure Project, which is the largest investor coalition in the world.



In the past year SKF has launched several energy initiatives including energy management, which includes designated energy coordinators globally, a carbon forecasting mechanism to facilitate energy saving and carbon reduction investments. These activities have brought SKF from tenth (2007) to second place in the ranking.



"This recognition proves that we are on the right track in our sustainability efforts. For SKF, sustainability also creates business opportunities, such as providing solutions in the renewable energy sector. In addition, we have recently launched a new family of energy efficient bearings," says Bengt Olof Hansson, VP Corporate Sustainability at SKF.



CDP was initiated in 2000 with the aim of collecting and compiling climate change-relevant corporate data, on a global basis. Corporations are requested to submit information to the annual questionnaire with regard to their strategies, risks and opportunities management relating to climate change.
