Emerson Industrial / McGill bearing manufacturing (USA; a division of Emerson Power Transmission) recently reached two million (2,000,000) hours without a lost-time accident at its facility in Valparaiso, Indiana.
The record spans more than four years. McGill's automotive and industrial bearing manufacturing operations in Valparaiso are spread over 145,000 square feet and employ more than 250 workers.
McGill representatives credited ongoing safety training and awareness programs, continuous commitment to attention, and award programs centered around safety. Training happens monthly, and the plant has a 29-member safety team, along with a 21-member safety response team trained in CPR, first aid, and defibrillators.
The entire plant it part of a proactive voluntary Indiana Department of Labor program; inspectors visit and review for compliance with all OSHA standards.
