SKF, the leading knowledge engineering company, has launched the latest generation of wall or rack mounted condition monitoring measurement units for use in tough industrial environments. The Multilog on-line System IMx-S and IMx-T have been designed to provide a complete system for early fault detection and prevention, automatic advice for correcting existing or impending conditions, and advanced condition-based maintenance to optimise machine reliability, availability and performance.

Both of the robust units have been designed to be key components in advanced condition monitoring systems for maximising productivity and minimising machine downtime in a wide variety of industrial applications. The Multilog IMx-S is intended to be wall mounted, making it a discreet solution where space is a premium, while, similarly, the IMx-T is designed to fit neatly into a 19" rack enclosure.
The Multilog systems are extremely versatile, with either 16, or up to 64 analogue signal inputs, configurable for a variety of sensors. Signals, such as acceleration, velocity, and displacement or other parameters are easily adopted, and each input can be configured for ICP (accelerometers), proximity probes, 4-20 mA or ± 25 V.
In addition to these analogue channels, eight, or in the case of the IMx-T, between eight and 32, digital channels may be used for measuring speed, trigger or digital status, for example, to indicate when a measurement can take place. Several measurement points may be attached to one channel, and both AC and DC measurements can be measured on the same channel.
Improving machine reliability further is the functionality to set individual conditions for warnings and alarms for each point, controlled by machine speed or load. The unit's unique built-in hardware auto-diagnosis system continuously checks all sensors, cabling and electronics for any faults, signal interruption, shortcuts or power failure, with any malfunction triggering an alarm allowing remedial action to be taken quickly.
The Multilog IMx-S and IMx-T operate as a complete machine condition monitoring system together with the SKF @ptitude Observer Monitor. The system is designed to run in an existing LAN together with other computers, printers and servers, or over the Internet for fast and simple data analysis.
