Berlusconi conviction leaves Italian government hanging

The Supreme Court's ruling on the center-right leader Silvio Berlusconi insisted before tax fraud conviction has left Italy in the fragile balance of the fate of the ruling coalition, although his supporters say the government will not be shot down.
After just three months, the center-left Prime Minister Enrico Letta appointed head of a restless and Berlusconi's People Liberal Party (PDL), the Italian union, the euro zone's third largest economy, once again plunged into uncertainty.

The 76-year-old billionaire react angrily rejected the final appeal against his conviction, the Supreme Court's decision to protest his innocence and accused the referee, he was 20 years since he entered the political persecution.
Ruling, confirmed in his broadcast empire Med iaset inflated invoice fraud involving a sentence, is the first definitive sentence, he received from the tax to the allegations of sexual crimes trials after dozens of previously.
"No one can understand the real violence has been directed at me," he said after the verdict, in a video message broadcast on Italian television. "A real aggression, there is no equal," he said.
Berlusconi is unlikely to have to at any time in prison because of his age. Supreme Court ordered part of the original sentence - a ban on holding political office - for review. But the ruling has been an unprecedented blow to the person who has dominated Italian politics two decades.
"His faith is the same as the Berlin Wall's fall in 1989, crowed:" BEPPE Grillo, anti-establishment movement of the 5-star leader and fierce criticism Berlusconi.
For all the drama, the financial market is largely out of the news, suggesting that investors expect the government now under false pretenses.
Italian blue chip share index opened flat on Friday, in its 10-year bond yields eased, narrow and German government bonds - the premium paid its debt of Italy main measures - spread. Berlusconi's Mediaset shares fell as much as 4 percent in early trading volatile.
Berlusconi said he would continue his political activities under the "Forza Italia" (Go Italy!)'s Name, his first party and correspondent for the reform of the judicial system, but he did not refer directly to the future of Recoleta Union .
Senior allies and bitterness, but also said that the ruling will not bring Leta between the center-left Democratic Party and Berlusconi's People of Freedom Alliance.
"This sentence will not affect Leta government, which is to serve the country, will continue to serve, as long as we are concerned," Nitto Palma, former Minister of Justice, said after the meeting in Rome, Berlusconi's residence.
Greater threat may come from the government Leta own faction-ridden center-left Democratic Party (PD), whose members have been unhappy with Berlusconi's ruling coalition of political parties can now resist.
Note
Millions of Italy's sacrosanct August summer vacation, Congress ready to enter the recess, there is little hope that the Government immediately crisis could trigger early elections.
But may in the coming months to remain entirely clear, Leta struggling to contain the growing displeasure in his PD.
"It is inevitable that political tensions, although we are in the middle of the summer season, in September, which may be the government's survival and renewed concerns about the economic consequences, ASPESI, Bernstein Research analyst, said: "Claudio.
Berenberg economist ruling will not bring the government, at least not in the coming months. "The key will be left in the middle .... this fall will decide whether to continue with or new elections," they said in a report.
"It knows a new election is risky, spook markets and delay recovery."
People will have to decide whether to hold new elections, if the ruling coalition fell apart, President Giorgio Napolitano called for calm and said the country needs "peace and cohesion." His remarks echoed Leta.
But the ruling Leta another obstacle, as he struggles led to Italy's longest postwar recession, reform its stagnant economy and cut its mountain of public debt. More challenges lie ahead.
And tax fraud case, Berlusconi is also fighting a separate conviction paying for sex with minors, in the infamous "bunga bunga" prostitution case, tarnished his office in the last months of 2011.
If necessary, promising to support the ECB, investors paid little attention so far, the main barometer of market sentiment, the spread between Italian 10 - year bonds and safer German equivalent to 270 points on Thursday, far lower than the previous level crises.
This may change if the long-term political instability of fuel on Italy's public finances extremely tense doubts and established a kind of pressure, bringing the eurozone crisis peaked two years ago, Berlusconi's previous government.
