British travel company TUI Travel agreed a deal to buy 60 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft with an option to further purchase more fuel-efficient aircraft 90.
TUI travel, business English Thomson Airways, said on Friday that 60 aircraft preliminary agreement adopted by the CFM International LEAP-1B engines, has been "a significant discount pricing 6.09 one billion U.S. dollars."
The world's largest tour operators, is expected in January 2018 and March 2023 between the delivery of the aircraft, said that such a big deal would represent a class of transactions, which means that would require shareholder approval.
737 MAX is the latest narrow-body aircraft by Boeing and European rival Airbus A320neo aircraft from the competition.
U.S. aircraft manufacturer Boeing said, 737 MAX will burn 13% less fuel, a figure higher than the current 737 models, more than previously estimated. The aircraft is due to enter production in 2015 and delivered to customers from 2017.
TUI Travel, operating six European airlines have 141 aircraft, 13 Boeing 787 Dreamliners on Friday received the first orders from the previous, and with Boeing said its latest deal is part of its operations, and its short-term and long-haul fleet renewal fuel efficient aircraft.
TUI Travel Chief Executive Peter Long said: "Being able to provide customers with the most advanced and most comfortable aircraft, whether they travel with us, short-term or long-haul destinations, while reducing the impact on the environment, will only strengthen our position."
The agreement confirmed order at least 100 Airbus or Boeing aircraft update, worth about $ 1 billion U.S. dollars, the British low-cost airline easyJet's edge, with as many selected again.
