At this year's ASME Turbo Expo in Copenhagen, Dresser-Rand, a global supplier of rotating equipment solutions to the oil, gas, petrochemical, power, and process industries, will showcase a number of its emerging technologies and innovations that it is bringing to all aspects of the energy infrastructure market.
Industry engineers and executives visiting booth #1715 will have the opportunity to explore Dresser-Rand innovations in compact integrated compression systems, noise reduction technology, magnetic bearings, ocean wave power generation, supercritical CO2 waste energy recovery systems, supersonic compression systems, and mechanical drive and power generation turbines.
“Our clients are always looking for innovative technologies that can reduce the cost and environmental impacts of operating their facilities” said Harry Miller, Director of Emerging Technologies at Dresser-Rand. “For example, generating electric power from ocean waves or utilizing supercritical CO2 to more efficiently capture waste heat can help clients reduce their environmental footprint and reduce operating cost of host assets.”
Main exhibits
Synchrony Magnetic Bearings
Dresser-Rand’s Synchrony magnetic bearing technology brings a new, more reliable fault tolerant magnetic bearing technology to the marketplace. In addition to oil-free centrifugal compression applications, Synchrony magnetic bearing and control systems may also be used in electric motors, generators and steam turbines.
D-R Duct Resonator Array Noise Reduction Technology
D-R Duct Resonator Array noise reduction technology can reduce noise from centrifugal compressors by a minimum of 10db, and up to 20db in some cases. Duct resonator arrays can be designed into new equipment and revamps, including non-Dresser-Rand equipment.
HydroAir Ocean Wave Power Generation Turbines
The Dresser-Rand HydroAir ocean wave power generation turbine uses oscillating water column (OWC) technology to convert ocean surface wave motion into electrical energy. Designed to be used in offshore wave hubs, HydroAir wave turbines can supply clean, renewable energy to offshore or onshore facilities.
Echogen Power Systems
Echogen Power Systems use a supercritical CO2 working fluid to convert waste heat into power without creating new emissions and more efficiently than existing organic Rankine cycle (ORC) technologies. Since the technology recaptures heat that was previously released into the atmosphere, the cost per unit of electricity decreases.
Ramgen Power Systems
Ramgen supersonic compression technology, which is currently under development, is envisioned to be capable of high compression ratios (10:1) for medium to high molecular weight applications such as CO2 compression applications in a very compact, single-stage package.
Dresser-Rand VECTRA Power Turbines
The Dresser-Rand VECTRA power turbine family can be matched to the GE LM2500, the LM2500+ and the LM2500+G4 aero-derivative gas turbine engines for both mechanical drive and electric power generation applications. The VECTRA turbine employs a lightweight, modular design which is ideal for offshore and onshore applications. The Dresser-Rand facility in Kongsberg, Norway is the Center of Excellence for gas turbine packaging.
