Federal Chancellor Dr. Angela Merkel speaking to Dr. Juergen M. Geissinger (left), Maria-Elisabeth Schaeffler and Georg F. W. Schaeffler.
Federal Chancellor Dr. Angela Merkel visited the Schaeffler booth during her tour of the trade show halls at the opening of the 64th IAA, one of the world’s most important automotive trade shows. The Chancellor was welcomed by partner Maria-Elisabeth Schaeffler, Chairman of the Supervisory Board, Georg F. W. Schaeffler and President and CEO, Dr. Juergen M. Geissinger and gained an insight into current developments in energy-efficient automobility.
With the motto: “efficient future mobility”, Schaeffler is represented this year for the first time at the IAA by a booth which measures 500 m² and is presenting a selection of innovative products ranging from efficient drive trains with internal combustion engines and hybrid solutions up to products for electric mobility. This meant the Chancellor had an opportunity to gain a comprehensive overview of Schaeffler’s wide-ranging product portfolio during her visit to the company’s booth.
Maria-Elisabeth Schaeffler emphasized in her welcoming speech: “With our product presentation at the IAA, we have demonstrated impressively that we are a source of innovation for the vehicles of tomorrow. Continuous research and development enables us to produce forward-looking solutions and set new standards in automobile manufacturing.”
Schaeffler offers both innovative solutions for optimizing internal combustion engines with potential savings in consumption and emissions of up to 30 percent, and key components for hybrid vehicles and advanced solutions for electric mobility.
The concept studies advanced Drive and eSolutions attracted special attention. The eSolutions demonstration vehicle from Schaeffler shows a large number of solutions for forward-looking mobility. The eSolutions presented in the demonstration vehicle included the Schaeffler eWheel Drive, a wheel-hub drive for new vehicle architecture and the eDifferential that enables unique driving dynamics in electric vehicles. The advanced Drive demonstration vehicle shows products for optimizing the energy efficiency of drive trains based on the internal combustion engine. The micro hybrid and the start-stop function were presented as important solutions of tomorrow.
"With our exhibits advanced Drive and eSolutions, Schaeffler is presenting itself as an innovative and forward-looking company that consistently takes the trend in energy efficiency into account. Traditionally, we have always taken the sustained reduction of fuel consumption and emissions into consideration when developing our products, be it double-clutch solutions, dual mass flywheels or solutions for engines, transmissions and chassis. And we will also continue to focus our research and development activities on future requirements. This means above all energy-efficient mobility”, explains Dr. Juergen M. Geissinger.
