GGB Heilbronn has been certified to the Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series specification for health and safety management systems (OHSAS 18001), making it the first EnPro Industries unit to achieve this distinction. The certification was conferred by TÜV Rheinland, an independent auditing body.
“This is extremely exciting for Heilbronn and GGB,” said Marvin Riley, GGB vice president of operations. “Heilbronn has done an excellent job on our 2011 commitment to OHSAS 18001, and is the first GGB plant to cross the threshold. I’m truly grateful to have such an excellent team in Heilbronn that is dedicated to creating a safe workplace.”
OHSAS 18000 is an international occupational health and safety management specification. Part 18001, to which GGB Heilbronn is certified, is designed to help an organization control occupational health and safety risks. It was developed in response to widespread demand for a recognized standard against which to be certified and assessed.
The OHSAS 18001 audit of GGB Heilbronn revealed no deviations from the standard, but resulted in a number of recommendations which are being implemented to further improve its employee health and safety system.
