Thomson Offers Belt- and Screw-driven Linear Units for Use in Harsh Operating Environments

(July 25, 2011)

Thomson is offering a selection of belt- and screw-driven linear units guided on slide bearings, rolls or balls that are suitable for use in demanding environments.

Linear units
Belt- and screw-driven systems are available to suit a variety of requirements, guided on linear slide bearings, rolls or balls.

Belt-driven units — available with stroke lengths of up to 12m as standard — are suitable for applications such as packaging and handling that require high throughput, fast cycle times and minimum maintenance.

With specially protected designs in S1 or S2 stainless steel, these systems can be used in harsh and/or wet operating environments such as abattoirs and dairies or in food and paper processing areas.

Linear units with ball screws — available with stroke lengths of up to 11m — are said to offer high thrust and payloads coupled with good adjustment accuracy and system rigidity.

Key specifications
Support system is designed to ensure smooth operation
The units are hermetically sealed against infiltrating dirt and dust
S1 stainless steel design enables operation when exposed to humidity and moisture, without concerns over corrosion
