An American mining company recently discovered the benefits of using high quality, high performance lubricants from the DuPont Krytox range.

Metal processing equipment is constantly required to perform under harsh conditions. When components frequently operate at temperatures in excess of 177ºC, especially in the presence of sulphuric acid the consequences include failed bearings and damaged shafts.

By switching to DuPont Krytox lubricants, the American-based Phelps Dodge mining company based in Phoenix, Arizona was able to overcome the typical problems encountered by them in their equipment.

Terry Williams, a rod mill mechanic at Phelps Dodge says that he began testing DuPont Krytox lubricants in the cast bar of their bar-prep area. This was the area where they were experiencing constant bearing failures.

Terry adds that the results were so impressive that he was able to convince management to increase the test to include the entire area.
Krytox lubricants offer strong resistance to aggressive chemicals and can be used from temperatures of -95ºC up to 343ºC or higher with re-lubrication depending on the grade.

Krytox oils and greases combine stability, high temperature performance, chemical inertness and non-flammability with outstanding lubrication under a variety of conditions.
