Two officials of the Timken Co. in Canton will take part in a trip to China organized by the Obama administration. The trip, which begins today, will include Secretary of Commerce Gary Locke and 24 U.S. business executives.
The two Timken officials on the trip are Roger Lindsay, a senior vice president; and Katherine Chen, manager of communications and government affairs. The delegation will visit Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Beijing.
Rep. John Boccieri, D-Alliance, who announced Timken's participation, said the company's "involvement in this trade mission shows the importance of our business and technology sector in northeast Ohio. China is one of the world's largest consumers. With Timken at the forefront of clean-energy technologies, including wind energy, this partnership creates local jobs, stimulates the economy, and ensures manufacturing jobs stay in Ohio."
