BNL, a global leader in the design and manufacture of plastic bearings and assemblies, is expanding their existing business in the far-east. To develop their market in the world’s fastest growing economy, BNL has taken steps to develop their presence in Shanghai, China.
BNL's representative Mr. Yang Hanqing, is responsible for handling existing accounts in China and kick-strating a process which will double BNL's sales in the country over the next five years.
“BNL is a global company and we are dedicated to providing a global service for our customers”, stated Janicke Aitken, Business Development Director. “Our BNL representative in Shanghai will fulfil a number of functions, providing support to the growing number of customers we have in China and helping us expand our presence in the region.”
BNL has its main engineering and manufacturing site at the company’s headquarters in North Yorkshire in the United Kingdom, with sales and engineering sites in Tokyo, Japan and Foxboro, MA in the United States. In 2007 BNL also opened a second manufacturing site in Thailand. The subsequent establishment of BNL in China confirms the company’s intentions to take advantage of the opportunities presented by the continued growth of the far-eastern economies.
BNL has secured the office services of the China-Britain Business Council (CBBC) in Shanghai via their Launchpad Scheme. The CBBC is the UK's leading organisation in assisting British companies to do business in China. A partnership between the government and businesses, the CBBC has been developing British trade interests in China since the 1950's. The Launchpad Scheme is a service available exclusively to CBBC members, to enable British businesses to gain a foot-hold in the fast-developing Chinese market.
Janicke commented on the CBBC’s support for business. “The CBBC has given us considerable assistance in establishing a BNL presence in China and will continue to support us as we develop our business in China and other regions. Their knowledge of China and established business network has been invaluable to us as we have embarked upon this new venture.”
BNL (UK) Ltd
BNL (UK) Ltd specialises in the design and manufacture of innovative thermoplastic bearing assemblies and technical moulding solutions. Plastic bearings offer many advantages over the traditional steel bearing, including anti-static properties, low friction and corrosion and chemical resistance. They are lightweight with low inertia and have no requirement for lubrication. BNL’s dedicated in-house design team is able to promote added value through the integration of other features - such as axles, gears, fixing clips, mounting flanges and pulleys - to form fully integrated bearing assemblies that maximise functionality and deliver whole system cost reductions. Headquartered in the United Kingdom, BNL maintains subsidiaries in Foxboro, Massachusetts (BNL [USA] Inc.), Tokyo, Japan (BNL [Japan] Inc.), Rayong, Thailand (BNL [Thailand] Ltd) and a representative office in Shanghai, China.
