SKF gets top score for its environmental and human rights work. This is shown in the Folksam Corporate Responsibility Index for 2009.
For the fourth year in a row, SKF is placed first for its environmental efforts and this year also has the highest score when the index for environment and human rights are combined.
- We are proud of the result, which is an acknowledgement of our commitment and continuous work within sustainability, says Bengt Olof Hansson, Vice President, Group Human Resources & Sustainability.
The index was introduced in 2006 and is a summary of how all companies listed on the Swedish Stock Exchange OMX present their work within environmental issues and human rights.
The index reflects how the companies work with areas like reducing energy consumption, recycling and reduction of carbon dioxide emissions, efforts within health and safety, diversity in the workplace, collective rights of negotiations, and human rights among suppliers.
Folksam is a Swedish insurance company and also one of the largest investment companies in Sweden.
