American Roller Bearing Co.'s plans to expand in Burke County received support this week from the Morganton City Council.

The city's incentive package provides a three-year grant of 70 percent of the ad valorem (property) tax on American Roller Bearing's added tax base — the company nearly has finished a 63,000-square-foot addition — and a tax credit of $150 per year for three years for each new job up to a total of 40 positions.

American Roller Bearing manufactures bearings for heavy industry in its plant at 307 Burke Drive.
