EnPro Industries, Inc. (NYSE: NPO) announced that Don DeFosset has been appointed to the company's board of directors, effective June 11, 2008. He becomes EnPro's ninth director. The company also announced that, at its annual meeting on June 9, 2008, shareholders approved an amendment to the company's charter repealing a provision that would have divided the board into three classes, serving three-year terms upon the addition of a ninth director. As a result, each director will continue to sit for re-election annually.
DeFosset is the former chairman, president and chief executive officer of Walter Industries, Inc., a diversified company involved in water infrastructure, flow control, water transmission products, metallurgical coal and natural gas, and homebuilding. He is a director of Regions Financial Corporation, AmSouth Bancorporation, Terex Corporation and James Hardie Industries.
"We welcome Don and look forward to working with him," said William R. Holland, chairman. "He brings breadth of experience to our board, and we are confident that we will work together to continue to build value for our shareholders."
EnPro Industries, Inc. is a leader in sealing products, metal polymer and filament wound bearings, compressor systems and components, diesel and dual-fuel engines and other engineered products for use in critical applications by industries worldwide.
