Turkish Wire and Cable Manufactures Adds Morgan Rod Mill

Wire and cable manufacturer Öznur Kablo San. Ve Tic. A.S., based in Karaköy, Turkey, has signed an agreement for an SCR 2000 system for its new copper rod mill.

The SCR 2000 system is being supplied by the Southwire Company of Carrollton, GA. Under the terms of contract, Morgan Construction Company will supply the mill with a 9-stand system -- one 12-inch stand, and eight 8-inch stands – together with a shear, pickling line, turndown, pinch roll, coiler and conveyor. The mill is designed to produce copper rod at 12 metric metric tonnes per hour.

Most of the equipment will be manufactured in Morgan’s Worcester facility.

According to John T. Buell, Manager, Non-Ferrous Sales, the rod mill marks Öznur Kablo’s vertical integration of its operations, as the new copper rod will be feed material for its wire and cable plants. Delivery of the new system is expected in November 2007.

Morgan and Southwire have worked together for more than 30 years. During that time, Morgan has built more than 60 non-ferrous mills for Southwire customers, in addition to completing some 30 upgrades. Morgan Construction Company is a designer and producer of high-quality rolling mill products and services for the metal industry worldwide.
