Schaeffler Presents Innovations for Production Machines
In keeping with the motto “Setting New Standards” and “Tailor-Made Solutions”, Schaeffler Group Industrial, with its brands INA and FAG, will present numerous new products at EMO in Hanover (17-22 Sept 2007) and ITMA in Munich (13-20 Sept 2007). With these innovations, which were introduced to the technical press during a workshop in Suhl/Thuringia on 19-20 June, Schaeffler Group Industrial defines new performance, quality and efficiency standards for its customers from the machine tool and textile machinery industries. Tailor-made solutions demonstrate the Group’s long-standing experience and special development competence for the requirements of these industrial sectors and of individual customers.
Higher quality and enhanced performance for rotary tables
Schaeffler Group Industrial has adopted an entirely new approach for bearing supports in rotary tables by combining rolling bearings and magnetic bearings – a solution that brings about a considerable performance increase. The repelling magnets in the rotary table and machine bed have the effect that the static force from above is partially compensated for so that it does not have to be fully accommodated by the rotary table bearing support. In addition, Schaeffler Group Industrial has developed a bearing support system for rotary tables that combines high static rigidity and good vibration damping. This enables good surface qualities of the workpieces as well as precise and dimensionally accurate machining results to be achieved. The newly developed YRTSpeed_M measuring system for torque motor axes in rotary tables achieves a high resolution even at high measurement speeds between 560 and 1,160 revolutions per minute and thus excellent control quality.
FAG spindle bearings increase productivity
In spindle bearing applications, new FAG high-speed cylindrical roller bearings permit the combination of high speeds with high load carrying capacity of the spindle while the adjacent structure can be kept simple. The newly developed, thermally robust tandem set also contributes to higher load carrying capacity and stability of the bearing support for high-speed machining applications. Optimizations achieved in Floating Displacement bearings (FD-Universal) and in greasing of sealed spindle bearings result in time and cost saving as well as higher safety.
Tailored solutions for textile machinery
The interplay of profound system understanding, global customer proximity and superior development and manufacturing expertise are the focus of Schaeffler Group Industrial’s presentation at ITMA 2007. Product innovations will include individually developed twisting spindles, chuck shafts and stud type track rollers, optimized cylindrical roller bearings as well as solutions in direct drive technology that is gaining more and more importance. These solutions are developed together with INA Drives & Mechatronics GmbH & Co. oHG (IDAM).
Innovations from INA Linear Technology
With the development of a serial hydrostatic compact guide for machine tools, Schaeffler Group Industrial has succeeded in combining the damping properties of hydrostatics with the compactness of profiled rail guides. So, from now on, machine tool manufacturers have the possibility to implement different performance classes in machine tools while adhering to the machine concept. In order to meet the high demands for speed and acceleration in textile machinery, INA Linear Technology has developed a high-speed profiled rail guide. Equipped with conventional steel rolling elements, it can achieve speeds of up to 10 meters per second without losses in load carrying capacity or rigidity.
Direct drive technology and mechatronic solutions for machine tools
INA – Drives & Mechatronics GmbH & Co. oHG (IDAM) showcases innovative direct drive technology and mechatronic solutions for machine tools at EMO 2007 in Hanover. New developments for torque motors ensure optimized latching force behavior and load pulsation. The new L2U linear motor series reaches a peak force of up to 13,000 N and is now suitable for use in large machining centers.
