KC Bearings Pvt. Ltd. (India) said it will be expanding its Mumbai plant to produce larger sizes of ball bearings, up to 38mm OD, for trucks and heavy duty equipment.
The diversification move helps take it away from the increasingly competitive and increasingly commoditized Indian market for standard automotive and industrial sizes.
Currently, KC manufactures primarily automotive bearings and water pump bearings, including cam belt tensioner pulley bearings. Target markets include automotive, light truck, light industrial, 3-wheeler and tractor.
Reportedly, the company has contracts to supply these new bearings to a large Indian heavy-duty truck manufacturer, most likely MAN Force Trucks, the recently-formed MAN AG joint venture with Force Motors. Force is also MAN's sourcing agent in India
