X-life Linear Actuators with Ball Type Profiled Rail System and Direct Drive
Individual positioning systems achieved with precise, compact and fully equipped linear actuators.
HANNOVER/HOMBURG/SUHL, April 11, 2005. Linear actuators are in plentiful supply, as are linear drives with ball type profiled rail systems. Linear drives with ball type profiled rail system and direct drive, on the other hand, are only available from a few suppliers. These include the specialists of INA’s Linear Technology Division and INA Drives & Mechatronics (IDAM). INA’s linear actuators with profiled rail system and direct drive, series MKUVS 42-LM, are very compact and fully equipped units which allow precise, reproducible and accurate motion sequences.
The actuators have been developed jointly by IDAM and INA Linear Technology and consist of an extremely compact and rigid support rail made from anodized alumi-num, a carriage with an integrally cast primary part (linear motor) and mounted pre-loaded linear recirculating ball bearing units KUVS 42, plus an integral magnetic incremental length measuring system and optional components available as required, such as cover strips, two or more carriages, a cable carrier, shock absorbers and a pneumatic brake. As a result, highly dynamic uniaxial or multiaxial positioning and handling systems can be produced from just a few mechanical parts. Due to its quality and remarkable functionality, which offers the customer or user increased service benefits, the MKUVS 42-LM belongs to the X-life class. X-life is the mark of quality for premium products and services from INA and FAG Kugelfischer.
With the ready-to-use servo control systems which are already available, the cus-tomer/user can obtain a complete solution from a single source. The actuators are available with support rails measuring up to 8,000 mm in length. The design is extremely compact; a flat, wide profiled rail is mounted on the basic aluminum construction, to which a 30 mm wide magnetic strip (secondary part) is affixed. The linear actuator's carriage guidance system is distinguished by very high basic load ratings - dyn. C = 27.4 kN and stat. Co = 51 kN – and static moments - Mox = 1,500 Nm and Moy and Moz = 4,200 Nm.
The system can reach a maximum acceleration value of 30 m/s² and speeds of up to 5 m/s. The actuator has a nominal or advancing force of 300 N (at a nominal current of 6,8 A) and a peak force of 610 N (peak current 14 A). The compact linear actua-tors can be used within a temperature range of 0° to +60° and are therefore suitable for an extremely wide variety of applications – preferably fitted in a horizontal position – and so can be used in production automation, measuring and testing technology, optical equipment, printing and packaging technology, tooling and workpiece handling systems and in wood working and machine tool construction.
INA-Schaeffler KG consolidates its direct drive and mechtranonics activities in INA Drives & Mechatronics GmbH & Co. KG. INA-Schaeffler KG is a member company of the Schaeffler Group. With a total of 54,000 employees working at over 180 sites worldwide and Group sales of almost 7 billion euros (2003 business year), the Schaeffler Group is one of the world’s leading rolling bearing manufacturers and automotive suppliers.
