At least one bid qualified for $7.4 billion South Korea fighter jet deal

South Korea said on Friday that at least one bid come in under budget, 8.3 trillion Korean won ($ 742 million) purchase of 60 next generation fighter jets, the country's largest ever defense import plan to replace its aging fleet.
Government's Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA), a spokesman said in a press conference, a comprehensive assessment will begin in mid-September, is expected to select a winner.
DAPA resume bidding, suspended seven week course, because of the price gap.
Lockheed Martin's F-35, Boeing's F-15 and the EADS Eurofighter "Typhoon" in the game.
Bai Yan HYEONG spokesman refused to give the phone number or name of the company to submit the required price.
"A qualified company, subject to the total project budget will eventually be selected," Baek said.
Korea was originally intended to pick a winner in October 2012, but last year's presidential election and criticism, the government has rushed to the matters slowed the process.
Analysts say the government is unlikely to meet the planned delivery date of 2017 for the first time.
The program is designed to partially replace about 150 aging F-4 and F-5 fighter aircraft, beginning in 2015, South Korea plans to retire.
