BHP Billiton in the Pilbara, Australia (Pilbara) to expand the iron ore business environment, approval has been opened.
BHP Billiton said Wednesday (July 11), the company has moved westward Australian department of environmental protection (EPA) to submit applications for strategic assessment.
If EPA decides to entertain the application, EPA cited the environmental conditions, and the applicant company will also carry out related research to the EPA to provide the relevant files.
BHP Billiton said in an e-mail statement, the company will carry out a consultation exercise to seek community and other interested parties the feedback.
BHP Billiton plans before 2020, the annual output of iron ore in Western Australia can increase to twice as much, to reach 350 million tons, increased to 450 million tons and timely.
BHP Billiton said in approving the motion, the company is to investigate a number of investment, including the introduction of new ore bodies to the existing mine. These projects will be further development of the next 50 years. BHP Billiton in the Pilbara region mining has over 40 years.
