Random House and Penguin Group has completed plans to merge and create the world's largest consumer book publisher.
The parent company Bertelsmann and Pearson said they signed the final contract on Monday combining the two activities and the creation of a global publisher Penguin Random House. Random House parent company Bertelsmann will hold 53% of the new company boss Pearson Penguin 47%.
Penguin Random House will include best-selling authors such as Dan Brown and Ken Follett and the vast back catalog ranging from John Steinbeck's "Grapes of Wrath" in Ralph Ellison's "Invisible Man."
Random House CEO Markus Dohle become a new group of privately held and headquartered in New York CEO. Penguin's CEO John Marginson will be its chairman.
