North Korea continues to develop nuclear technology and long-range ballistic missiles and move it closer to its target to be met, it is possible to use atomic weapons attacks on the United States, a new Pentagon report to Congress on Thursday.
Report, the Pentagon's annual assessment of the first version of the law, Korean Taepodong-2 missile, sustainable development, may finally be able to reach parts of the U.S., if configured as an intercontinental ballistic missile carrying a nuclear warhead.
The country's development of long-range ballistic missile capabilities, the report said North Korea launched a multistage rocket to deliver satellites into orbit in December, ahead of "made numerous contributions".
It also continued to improve its atomic weapons capability, including nuclear explosions February, at any time "additional nuclear tests," the report said.
"Ballistic missile delivery system progress and development of nuclear technology, together with North Korea established the goal against the United States," the report said.
"North Korea will move closer to achieving this goal, as well as increase the threat posed by the U.S. allies in the region, continue to test the scarce system resources, and is committed to these programs," it said.
The characteristics of the file, North Korea as the biggest security challenge in the United States, because of its efforts to develop nuclear weapons and missiles, to sell weapons technology to other countries and are willing to "provocative and destabilizing behavior recorded in the region."
The report at a sensitive time in the region, the friction between Washington and Pyongyang, only now beginning to ease after two months of increasingly strident rhetoric, as if close to the brink of war on the Korean Peninsula.
The sharp rise in tensions between the two countries, the DPRK put a satellite into space in late December and February, the nuclear tests conducted. Test lead to a new United Nations sanctions, which led to a series of threats from Pyongyang.
North Korea went so far as warning the United States and South Korea's nuclear strike, as its new leader, Kim Jong-un, marking the death of his father, and his first year in office.
U.S. and South Korean troops continue to work with the long-term plan military exercises, despite the threats and Washington is sending stealth bombers and other aircraft in a show of force.
In 2005, North Korea signed an agreement to get rid of its nuclear program in exchange for aid, but later withdrew from the agreement, said it will not give up its nuclear weapons program.
The United States strongly rejected North Korea's request, it is recognized as a nuclear weapons state. Washington has stepped up with the issue of China's diplomacy.
