Polymer specialist Igus UK will be showcasing its high-performance tribo-polymer bearings, energy chains and cables at the Engineering Design Show in October.
Igus will be on Stand D10 at the event, which will take place at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry on 2–3 October.
Visitors to the stand will be able to see live demonstrations of the company’s products, which include Igildur stock plates, Xiros ball bearings and Robolink robotic systems. Experts from the company will be present to give advice.
Key features and benefits
Igildur stock plates
* According to the company, the stock plates increase design flexibility for engineers when customising special parts.
* Designers can obtain machined parts such as wear plates and strips easily and cost effectively with less waste.
* Igildur stock plate material comes in sheets rather than standard round bars and is available in a variety of thicknesses from 2mm to 25mm.
* Other key benefits of the stock plates include low coefficients of friction in dry operation, low moisture absorption and no maintenance needs.
* The stock plate material is suitable for parts that need to withstand temperatures from -50ºC to +120ºC.
Xiros bearings
* Xiros bearings are available in five standard Igus materials.
* The bearings are suitable for a variety of applications, ranging from medical equipment, pumps and measurement machines through to transport and conveying technology — particularly in the industrial sectors of chemicals, food, laboratory equipment and packaging.
* Lubricant and maintenance free over their entire lifetime, Xiros polymer ball bearings can endure temperatures of up to +150°C, are highly corrosion resistant, can be washed and cleaned, are non-magnetic and are lightweight.
* The plastic ball bearings are claimed to have excellent friction coefficients to give high performance and long service life, even in the most demanding of applications.
Robolink
* The company said that the Robolink is a simple, lightweight and cost-effective robotic system, which is now available with 6° of freedom.
* Maintenance and corrosion free, it is suitable for use in areas of general lightweight construction, handling and automation.
* The six-axis unit is available completely assembled on a rugged aluminium sub-frame and with Igus’s step motors to drive the robot.
