A Euclid company's trademarked high-speed, large-area metal cladding technology has been honored with a prestigious award by a leading metals publication.
MesoCoat's CermaClad pipe technology recently received the Best Process Innovation of the Year Award in the American Metals Market Awards for Steel Excellence.
In its fourth year, the American Metals Market Awards for Steel Excellence recognize processes, products and business developments that have made a profound impact on the steel industry.
“This latest award further validates the significant impact that our CermaClad technology can have on improving production times, quality, cost efficiencies, and deepwater installation of clad pipes, greatly benefiting the rapidly growing $4 billion metal cladding industry,” said Robert Miller, CEO of Abakan Inc., the Miami-based parent company of MesoCoat.
In April, MesoCoat commissioned its first large-scale CermaClad manufacturing facility in Euclid.
MesoCoat specializes in applying wear- and corrosion-resistant coatings to oil and gas pipes.
Wear and tear on pipes, particularly oil and gas pipelines, costs industries millions each year. What makes MesoCoat’s product CermaClad different than others is the plasma arc lamp or “artificial sun” technology. This technology was developed at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Oak Ridge National Laboratory and refined by MesoCoat President Andrew Sherman and his team of engineers.
In addition to the Euclid plant, MesoCoat is planning to build another pipe cladding plant in Brazil.
