Brad Keselowski was all smiles, cracking a few jokes and proudly discussing what it felt like to be a champion.
The reigning NASCAR Sprint Cup Champ went on to entertain those in attendance by recalling his first day behind the wheel of a race car, back when he was 16, and how driving a mere 80 miles per hour — sluggish compared to the speeds he goes at now — made him so nervous he got physically sick.
“That doesn’t happen anymore,” he said with a grin.
Thursday was quite a day for the many employees at SKF on Forty Foot Road in Lansdale, as Keselowski stopped by to make an apperance on his way to Sunday’s ‘Party in the Poconos 400’ at Pocono Raceway,
“They help us develop our cars and help us in a lot of different ways,” Keselowski said of SKF, a partner with Penske Racing. “Winning a championship together with them was a huge honor. We’re here to celebrate that with the employees who make SKF possible.”
SKF is a leading global supplier of bearings, seals, mechatronics, lubrication systems and services. In simpler terms, it makes Keselowski’s No. 2 Miller Lite Ford Fusion Race Car, which was on hand from 10 to 12 on Thursday, go incredibly fast.
The group has been a sponsor in NASCAR for 16 years, and Keselowski’s title run marked SKF’s first major racing championship in North America.
