Igus has launched a cost-effective manufacturing service — Speedifit — dedicated to the supply of bespoke bearing assemblies, enabling customers to save time and money.
A Speedifit part is made by taking a standard or custom Iglidur plain bearing and fitting it into a bespoke housing machined to a customer’s drawing and specifications. Any Igus bearing can be fitted into a housing that can be manufactured from materials including aluminium, anodised aluminium, mild steel, stainless steel, titanium and common engineering plastics.
The Speedifit service requires just a few steps: the customer sends Igus the assembly and housing drawings and receives a quote typically within 24 hours; once ordered, the Speedifit manufacturing and assembly centre produces the custom part and the complete assembly is delivered ready to install, within the confirmed lead time.
Delivery timescales depend on the material, complexity and quantity, but Speedifit parts are usually delivered within five to 10 working days.
Key benefits
The delivery of the Speedifit part saves customers valuable manufacturing and logistics time, and the one-piece assembly does not need any further process or work.
The Iglidur plastic bearings are designed to be reliable, high quality, wear resistant and free from lubrication, meaning that they do not require any maintenance and that they ensure a long service life.
As with all Igus components there is no minimum order, and customers can order any number of parts.
The cost of the Speedifit part depends on the individual requirements and materials, customers can benefit from cost savings associated with reduced manufacturing and logistics time.
