SKF’s extensive Meet the World football program and partnership with the Gothia Cup, supports young people and communities from all over the world
SKF has launched the 2013 SKF Meet the World youth football tournament which the company has driven since 2007. For the second year in a row, SKF will also arrange a tournament in France, where the winning team will participate in the Kim Källström Trophy/Gothia Cup 2013 football tournament. Gothia Cup, in cooperation with Special Olympics Europe organizes the Kim Kallström Trophy.
“Our sustainable future is built on knowledge, understanding, and respect, which starts with youth – their dreams, ideas and aspirations. We want to open minds, stimulate dialogue, and create opportunities that would otherwise be a dream. The SKF Meet the World tournaments give us a chance to make a positive impact locally and let people know a little bit more about SKF,” says Tom Johnstone, SKF President and CEO.
The SKF Meet the World football tournaments are held in 15-25 countries where SKF has a presence. The purpose is to create global meeting points for youngsters regardless of gender, social background, age, culture or religion. The tournaments will take place from January– June and winning teams from each country will participate in the Gothia Cup, the world’s largest and most international youth football tournament held in July 2013 in Gothenburg.
