Schaeffler recently won a 2012 ‘Excellent Quality Award’ at the 4th Annual Supplier Conference held by Goldwind Science & Technology Co., Ltd. Following a ‘Technology Cooperation Award’ in 2010 and an ‘Excellent Supplier Award’ in 2011, this is the third consecutive year that Goldwind has presented a prize to Schaeffler, the only manufacturer of wind turbine main shaft bearings among the 2012 award winners.
Goldwind’s statement at the presentation was a glowing commendation: “Schaeffler has always been committed to achieving its quality objective of “zero defects”, and a focus on quality in all areas is an integral part of Schaeffler's corporate culture. In 2012, Schaeffler achieved a quality pass rate of over 99% in its bearing supplies to Goldwind, was consistently responsive and actively cooperated with us in addressing quality concerns, and made an important contribution to upgrading the reliability and quality of our turbines", says Mr. Ni Wanchun, Director of Quality at Goldwind.
The collaboration between Schaeffler and Goldwind goes far beyond the supply of bearings. It also encompasses simulation calculations, aftermarket development and services, as well as linear product development and linear applications. This latest accolade from Goldwind is recognition of the performance of Schaeffler's wind power business unit in 2012. In the future, both sides will build closer strategic cooperation with a view to achieving long-term mutual success.
Schaeffler has more than 30 years’ experience in the wind power industry, developing and manufacturing a full range of bearing solutions for wind turbines. Schaeffler is also the first wind turbine bearing manufacturer to have established a professional sales and technical support team in China and to have initiated close cooperation with almost every major wind turbine manufacturer there.
