NKE's headquarters and production site in Steyr is certified to ISO 9001:2008, ISO 14001:2004 and OHSAS 18001.
Austrian bearing manufacturer NKE Austria GmbH has again passed the ISO audit in October 2012 and is now recertified to ISO 9001:2008 for Quality Management, ISO 14001:2004 for Environmental Management and OHSAS 18001 for Occupational Health and Safety. Certification and audits were performed by SGS (Société Générale de Surveillance), one of the world’s leading certification authorities.
NKE was already awarded ISO 9001 certification at the time of its foundation in 1996, which assesses companies’ quality management with the aim of improving their performance. The ISO 14001 standard for Environmental Management, to which NKE was first certified in 2000, aims to promote environmental protection and prevent pollution and other adverse environmental effects. OHSAS 18001 (Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Systems) certification, which defines criteria for the assessment of occupational safety management within the enterprise, was awarded to NKE in 2009. To ensure that companies continue to fulfil the standards’ stringent quality criteria, initial certification is followed up with monitoring audits and checks as well as a recertification audit every three years.
“Yet again NKE has fully met all specified criteria without any deviations”, comments Harald Zerobin, technical director of NKE. “We continue to focus on optimising and further developing product and service quality for our customers. Health and safety at work is, of course, also a key issue for us. That we maintain environment protection standards in production goes without saying.”
