SKF increases focus on sustainability and receives recognition from Dow Jones Sustainability World Index and FTSE4Good

SKF announced that for the 13th successive year, the SKF Group is a member in both the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI) and the pan-European sustainability benchmark for the Industrial Engineering sector. Additionally, for the 12th consecutive year, FTSE Group confirms that SKF has been independently assessed according to the FTSE4Good criteria, and has satisfied the requirements to become a constituent of the FTSE4Good Index Series.

"Sustainability is a long-term commitment for SKF and I am very proud that we have been recognized for our efforts. SKF is committed to sustainability not only as a responsibility, but also as a way of developing our business. In addition to launching our BeyondZeroTM portfolio, we recently opened our new bearing factory in Jinan, China, which is our seventh new building built according to the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) standard," says Tom Johnstone, SKF President and CEO.

SKF defines its entire sustainability focus as SKF Care, which encompasses Business Care, Environmental Care, Employee Care and Community Care. In May of this year, SKF announced targets for their new climate strategy and the WWF acknowledged that these targets were sector leading by partnering with the SKF Group in their Climate Savers Programme.

The SKF climate strategy includes aggressive targets for reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions for SKF, its suppliers and logistics operations, as well as from its customer solutions. These customer solutions are included in the SKF BeyondZero portfolio, which defines solutions, which improve energy efficiency, reduce green house gas emissions, and support more environmentally friendly energy production.
