NTN will run a booth at Electric Vehicle Development Technology Exhibition (EVEX) 2012 with the theme “NTN's advanced technology for tomorrow's vehicles”. A wide range of products and systems developed for next-generation vehicles such as EVs and environmentally-friendly vehicles will be on show, including the By-Wire System Concept that brings together a collection of electrification and control technologies that NTN has developed to allow next-generation EVs to drive, stop and turn. Main Products Being Exhibited
By-Wire System Concept
A wire-frame model of the By-Wire System Concept and associated videos will be on display, bringing together a collection of electrification and control technologies that NTN has developed for driving, stopping and turning for next-generation EV. The wire-frame model consists of the One motor Type Electric Vehicle Drive System, In-Wheel Motor System, Electromechanical Brake System, and Steering System for Steer-by-Wire.

High Speed and Low Torque Deep Groove Ball Bearing for EV/HEV
Rotation torque with oil lubrication has been reduced to 50% or less at high rotational speeds of 30,000 min-1 (1.2 million DN*). A new cage has been used to limit distortion at high rotational speeds due to centrifugal forces, while also restricting the amount of grease flowing into the bearing to reduce stirring resistance. The internal design of the bearing has also been optimized to reduce rolling viscosity resistance.

Linear Type Electric Actuator
The rotation output of drive motors can be converted to linear movement with a high level of response and thrust. It features a compact design using a high-efficiency ball screw shaft as at output axle. The unit incorporates an IC sensor that can directly detect the output axle stroke position.
