Bal Seal Engineering, Inc., a designer and manufacturer of custom engineered sealing, connecting, conducting and EMI shielding components for security and defense equipment, will make its debut as an exhibitor at this week's Eurosatory International 2012 in Paris, France. The company will demonstrate its Bal Seal Canted Coil Springs(R) and spring-energized Bal Seal(R) polymer sealing products in Hall 6, Stand A30 at the trade event, which runs June 11-15th 2012 at the Paris-Nord-Villepinte Exhibition Centre.
Josien Suntjens, a European Market Manager at Bal Seal, says the show "makes good strategic sense" for her company, because it addresses security and defense markets exclusively.
"We've already been contributing to some exciting technological developments in these markets," Suntjens explains, "so being at Eurosatory will allow us make new partnerships and show prospective customers how our unique springs and seals can improve their product performance and reliability." She adds that the event will provide Bal Seal booth staffers with valuable "engineer face time."
"By speaking with the people who are actually designing this equipment, we'll have an opportunity to learn about emerging technologies, and which technical issues are common to these markets," says Suntjens.
Bal Seal says its exhibit will feature demonstration assemblies and photorealistic animation sequences designed to help Eurosatory attendees understand the important role of its seals and springs in defense and security gear.
In advance of its participation in Eurosatory 2012, Bal Seal published an article titled "'Friction Factor' a High Priority for Sealing in Pod Applications." The article addressed the challenges of sealing in optoelectronics housing/pod applications, and it highlighted the use of the Bal Seal spring-energized low friction seal. This seal is used to protect sensitive electronics housed in the pods (also known as gimbals) found on modern military, law enforcement, border protection and homeland security equipment, including naval vessels, ground surveillance systems, land-based combat and transport vehicles, as well as manned and unmanned military systems.
The "Friction Factor" article can be found in the May 2012 print issue of Defence Global magazine, a Barclay Media Limited publication. A .pdf copy of the piece can be obtained by sending an e-mail with "friction article" in the subject line to mhalloran@balseal.com.
