February 10, 2012 - SKF, the knowledge engineering company, has introduced the TKTI 20, a new high resolution thermographic camera that packs a range of powerful viewing facilities into a robust, lightweight design, enabling engineers to conduct fast and efficient predictive maintenance that can increase productivity and profitability.
The TKTI 20 offers a simple, safe way to monitor the operating temperature of machinery because the user can accurately target specific components, such as motors and rotating shafts, from a distance. The camera's 160x120 infrared resolution (previously 47x47 on the existing SKF TKTI 10) gives a much clearer image of the subject, while the picture-in-picture option allows users to view both a visual picture and a thermal one simultaneously, making it easy to identify machinery that is functioning outside temperature limits or where buildings may be wasting energy through heat loss.
The robust design of the TKTI 20 is capable of withstanding aggressive environments filled with machinery running at capacity, while the potentially time-consuming business of measuring intermittent faults can be achieved by mounting the camera on a tripod and photographing machinery either at intervals or when a chosen temperature level is exceeded.
The camera has been designed for ease-of-use but, for those with a deeper understanding of thermal analysis, it also offers some powerful tools, such as on-screen isotherms and temperature gradients, making the TKTI 20 a flexible and valuable device.
