Jan. 10, 2012 — Emerson Industrial Automation, headquartered in Florence and parent company to Sealmaster in Morehead, received the large business 2011 Kentucky Manufacturer of the Year award.
Emerson has consolidated several of its manufacturing operations to Kentucky, where three of their most high-tech facilities are now located.
Sealmaster, an Emerson brand manufacturer, produces a premier quality bearing line in Morehead.
Emerson was selected based on the following criteria:
• Innovation and entrepreneurial leadership with regard to products, production, method and services.
• Emerson was recognized for leadership in making a key contribution to the quality of life in the Commonwealth and in the communities in which they reside.
• Active involvement in organizations that advance manufacturing and industry.
“Of the three Emerson facilities, Morehead is the only location producing industrial type bearings,” said Bill Timmons, human resource manager at the Morehead facility.
According to Timmons, Emerson bought the former Browning facility in 1984. “There are a lot of people who think automotive when they hear Sealmaster,” he said.
“Our 200 employees produce bearings for a diverse industry including agriculture, HVAC, aviation, food and forest industries to name a few,” said Timmons.
“They are the best of the best in Kentucky’s manufacturing community,” said Greg Higdon, president and CEO of the Kentucky Association of Manufacturers. “They are deserving of praise for their talent and service to their companies, communities and our Commonwealth.”
