Shanghai on August 2nd, 2011.The award once again witnesses that SKF receives wide recognition for being deeply involved with China and promoting sustainable development.
Shanghai foreign-funded enterprises, which aims at driving the common practice of corporate social responsibility and sustainable development. After the judging panel's repeated visits and verification, SKF won the CSR Excellence Award of Shanghai Association of Enterprises with Foreign Investment by virtue of Liaoning Fuxin afforestation projects.
Meanwhile, SKF signed a Project Implementation Plan with the Forestry Department of Liaoning Province, officially launching the first phase of the pilot project to be carried out in Liaoning Fuxin Mongolian Autonomous County.
In order to guarantee the quality of trees, SKF have invited forestry experts from Sweden to help select high-quality trees and guide planting, which lead to a high tree survival rate (over 85% ) of the year. It is estimated that the survival rate will be not less than 80% in 2011 and 2012.
Fuxin region, including the reforestation project donated by SKF, can meet the needs of Liaoning province's population. Tom Johnstone, SKF President and CEO said,"We recognize the critical role forests serve in the ecosystem and this project supports our sustainability work and our BeyondZero approach."
