Shell Eco Marathon is an educational competition organized by Shell to challenge students of various university around the world, which has purpose to create innovative vehicle based on economical, eco-friendly and safety criteria. The winner is the team that goes furthest distance using the least amount of energy.
Shell Eco Marathon itself has been held for 28 years in Europe and 2 years in USA. In Asia, this event was launched last year in 2010. SKF has been a Shell Eco-marathon sponsor partner in Europe and now SKF have decided to become a sponsor partner for Shell Eco-marathon Asia in 2011. It will take place in Kuala Lumpur, July 7th -9th , with 121 teams qualifying to participate.
From Indonesia, there are 10 teams from 5 Universities. They are Sadewa Team and Nakula Team (University of Indonesia), Sapu Angin 1, Sapu Angin 2 and Sapu Angin 3 (Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology), Semart 1 and Semart 2 (Gajah Mada University), Rakata Team and Cikal Nusantara (Bandung Institute of Technology), and Khatulistiwa Line (Polytechnic State of Pontianak).
We would like to convey the SKF mission "To equip the world with SKF knowledge" by providing our full support in anyway (supply bearing, consultancy, etc) for all the team.
Beside we have provide bearings for all the team, we also have invited them to visit our factory at Jakarta, May 12th , 2011. We have presented them about SKF Platforms, Bearing Knowledge and there is a bonus presentation from TGG Nair (General Manager of Application Development Center in SKF India) about Product Development and Value Added Solution. During of the factory visit, they are very interested in all of our technology and the excellence of our Energy Efficient Bearings.
