Tyler has participated in the 2011 Nitro Challenge that took place past weekend in Arizona. After three rounds of qualifying, Tyler was qualified 4th overall for open 1/8 buggy. There were 120+ racers in this class.

The main event was set with a very tough track as all the rain the night before left the track flooded for most of the day and although dry for the main event, it was still very rutted and tough for all the racers. Tyler drove a great race up until the half way mark of the 45 minute main event when his right rear tire came un-clued while running in third. We had to do a un-planned pit stop and change his tires which then put him in 7th place. He then battled back and salvaged a 5th place finish. All in all a great finish!

The 1/8 truggy class didn’t go as smooth as the buggy class. Although Tyler had the speed with the top 5 racers, bad luck in qualifying with breaking his truggy both heats had him starting in the “D” main. The main started and after 5 minutes, Tyler had a 25 second lead on 2nd place with an easy bump up to the next main when he then caught the wall leaving out of pit lane and unfortunately, breaking his truggy again and out of the race.
