Kaman Corp. (NASDAQ GS: KAMN), Bloomfield, CT, No. 3 on MDM's list of the top power transmission/bearing distributors, reported sales for 2010 were $1.32 billion, an increase of 14.8 percent over sales in 2009. Profit increased 17.5 percent to $38.3 million.
Fourth-quarter sales were $365.1 million, up 35.7 percent over the same period a year ago. Profit improved 77 percent to $14.7 million.
Industrial Distribution segment fourth-quarter sales increased 46 percent to $218.7 million in a year-over-year comparison. On a sales per sales day basis, organic sales were up 23.2 percent over last year's fourth quarter. Operating income for the fourth quarter of 2010 was $9.2 million.
Segment sales for the full year 2010 were $832 million, an increase of 28.9 percent.
Aerospace segment sales were $146.4 million in the fourth quarter, an increase of 22.7 percent from the fourth quarter of 2009. Operating income was $26.4 million, compared to operating income of $18.2 million in the 2009 fourth quarter. For the full year 2010, segment sales were $486.5 million, a decrease of 2.8 percent from 2009.
