Expanding Middle East Capabilities Demonstrated At ADIPEC 2010

(November 15, 2010)

The proven and integrated solutions that John Crane provides to the Middle East's oil, gas and petrochemical industries will be the focus of the company's stand at ADIPEC 2010 in Abu Dhabi. Central to those solutions is John Crane's extensive product portfolio. This includes a complete selection of engineered products for rotating equipment applications, ranging from turbomachinery sealing solutions through to power transmission couplings, wet seal and system solutions, advanced bearing technologies and specialised filtration systems.

Supporting these products are John Crane unparalleled customer service abilities and its global support network of over 230 facilities in more than 50 countries. The Middle East is especially well supported, with existing facilities in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, Jubail and Dammam. John Crane's main Saudi Arabian Service Centre in Dammam has recently completed a major expansion and upgrading project, while the company's presence in Yanbu has been established with the creation of a new Service Centre facility. The Service Centres in Qatar and Kuwait both now offer an expanded range of services, while John Crane has also recently established a Middle East Turbomachinery Group tasked with providing dedicated turbomachinery expertise to customers across the region.

Specialist filtration capability

Prominent on John Crane's Adipec stand will be the company's specialised and patented Indufil filtration systems. Designed for rotating equipment fluid, fuel and gas conditioning applications, these systems are the perfect illustration of John Crane's ability to provide an extended range of technology-based products to the power generation industry.

Characterised by the highest levels of quality at every stage - from initial design through to final manufacture - they provide totally reliable filtration performance for a wide variety of applications

Advanced bearing technology

John Crane's engineered bearing products will also be highlighted at the exhibition. These include a variety of tilting pad bearings for high-speed rotor applications, standard thrust and journal multilobe bearings, combined bearings for restricted assembly applications and bespoke bearing solutions. These products have resulted from 60 years of bearing industry experience, making them an increasingly popular choice with customers around the world who require a proven solution to their specific bearing requirements.

Specialist sealing

John Crane's impressive credentials as a specialist supplier to the oil and gas industries will be reflected in the range of turbomachinery seals and bearing on display. These will be headed by the Type 28XP high-pressure, gas lubricated, non-contacting seal for turbocompressor applications. John Crane's Type 28 seals have been the industry standard for gas-handling turbomachinery applications since the early 1980s and are ideal for a wide variety of gas collection, transmission, refining and petrochemical processing duties. They eliminate seal oil contamination, reduce downtime and maintenance costs and are available in different configurations to suit varying pressure handling requirements.

Separation solutions

The presence of John Crane's Type 83 and Type 93FR separation seals will underline the nature of the company's integrated offering. These units provide contacting and non-contacting operation respectively and use the latest John Crane technology to solve the issue of oil penetrating into an outboard gas seal from a compressor bearing. They also prevent process gas migrating into the bearing cavity from the outboard stage of a gas seal.

The unique inner and outer segments of the Type 83's carbon bushing are specifically designed to prevent oil migration. The seal's low gas consumption and wear characteristics contribute to its outstanding reliability and long life and it is also designed for quick and easy installation. The Type 93 has a similar but non-contacting carbon bushing and is normally supplied as a double separation seal which provides similarly impressive operational reliability.

High performance reliability

Illustrating John Crane's portfolio of high performance offshore and pipeline solutions will be the Type 8600 high duty seals. The result of John Crane's extensive experiences in high duty applications these seals incorporate the latest developments in materials and surface texturing techniques. This makes the Type 8600 the most advanced range of high-duty seals available today, with the ability to operate at speeds in excess of 50m/s and pressures over 200bar.

Other seals on display will include John Crane's T3740 cartridge seal family. Featuring the latest modular technology these split seals combine the unique design requirements for wet-running and dry-running services into one common seal platform. The Type 3740 wet-running split seal allows quick and easy installation and provides reliable performance in demanding rotating equipment fluid services. The Type 3740D dry-running split seal provides similarly impressive performance but is designed for the large shaft run-out and harsh operating conditions associated with top-entry mixing vessel services and similar applications.

An integrated offering

Evidence of John Crane's ability to supply fully integrated comprehensive solutions will be provided by the various other products on display. These include the Plan 53B seal support system which improves efficiency and uptime by creating the best fluid environment around a mechanical seal.

Completing the exhibition line up will be examples of John Crane's Metastream power transmission couplings. Over 50 years of constant product development has created couplings whose ability to help rotating equipment operate at optimum levels has been thoroughly proven, time after time. This range includes various high performance models which are designed to satisfy the stringent demands created by modern turbomachinery applications.
