Tristar's engineering team has used its Rulon LR self-lubricating material as a clutch mechanism for a slat drive assembly on Boeing aircraft.

Rulon LR discs are installed running against one another and supported by metal rings.



This assembly acts as a clutch mechanism in the slat drive gear box to prevent an override of the screw drive.

Running Rulon against itself increases the friction dramatically.

Further applications for Rulon LR include fishing reels, canning equipment, envelope manufacturing and paper mill machinery.
