Bearings and sintering specialist Bowman International has acquired most of the assets of the sintering division of MPC Industrial Solutions.
MPC, a sintered iron components manufacturer, went into administration in October last year. All stock, tooling, goodwill and various other items have been purchased from the administrator.
This is the second acquisition by Bowman in the last year, following its earlier purchase of Oilite Bearings Ltd. The acquisitions strengthen Bowman's prominent position in the sintered parts market and will greatly expand its export sales.
"We are delighted to be making another substantial addition to our business," said Bowman managing director Paul Hancock. "It means we can offer customers an even better service and an even wider range of components."
Derbyshire-based MPC Industrial Solutions, formerly known as EGA Sinter, produced structural sintered iron parts and iron bearings for a wide range of applications worldwide, including motor cycles, power tools, vacuum cleaners, motor vehicles, water pumps etc.
The company's sales manager Steve Eaton will be transferring to a similar role at Bowman.
Despite the recession, Bowman has been seeing an almost overwhelming demand for its sintered components as more and more people become aware of the substantial cost savings from this manufacturing technique.
