On Oct 28, SKF inaugurated its Hope School in Zhuanglang County of Gansu
Province. The School has six furnished classrooms to accommodate more than 230 students together with facilities including library, function room, meeting room and dormitory for teachers.
Being the third Hope School that SKF has built in China, it is not only one of the means by which SKF supports education in China, but more importantly a result of SKF Care during the 512 Earthquake. The 512 Earthquake in 2008 caused cracks and structural damage in the school building wherefore students were forced to be allocated in tents. The new school building has quakeproof materials incorporated and have met the relevant state's standards.
Magnus Johansson, President of SKF China participated in the inauguration
ceremony of the SKF Hope School. He also brought to the students brand new jackets, schoolbags and stationary.
SKF China initiated its Hope School projects in October 2006. The previous two SKF Hope Schools, built in 2007 and 2008 are located in Anhui and Yunnan. Up till now, SKF Hope Schools have given the opportunity to more than 750 students and teachers to enjoy brand new studying and teaching facilities.
Sustainability at SKF centres on the SKF Care approach to Business Care,
Environment Care, Employee Care and Community Care. Earlier this year, SKF was listed No. 1 with full scores in the yearly web ranking which was conducted by Hallvarsson & Halvarsson. H&H Webranking ranks 700 corporate web sites every year on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) information.
