SKF donates condition monitoring equipment to Texas A&M

SKF USA Inc. recently donated $75,000 worth of SKF condition monitoring equipment, software and training programs to the Texas A&M University Department of Industrial Distribution for its new DXP Pump Laboratory. The donation by SKF is intended to help Texas A&M more effectively integrate condition monitoring concepts into its pumping technology curriculum.

Included in SKF’s contribution are two portable data collector units – an SKF Microlog Analyzer AX and an SKF Microlog Analyzer GX – as well as the applicable SKF condition monitoring software and training programs. Using the resources provided by SKF, students will be able to practice condition monitoring procedures on various pump simulators in the lab, and will also have the opportunity to develop a better understanding of condition monitoring in real world situations. The lab will also conduct continuing education programs for industry experts in the field of pumping technology and solutions.

“As a strong supporter of Texas A&M University’s Department of Industrial Distribution, we are proud to be making this contribution to the newly established DXP Pump Laboratory,” said Tom Light, regional sales director, SKF USA Inc., and Texas A&M alumnus. “SKF’s involvement with the pump laboratory is a perfect combination of academia and industry with the goal of helping current and future industry leaders better understand the increasingly critical role of condition monitoring in today’s industry.”

A ribbon cutting ceremony for the opening of the DXP Pump Laboratory will be held on Friday, September 25 at Texas A&M University. Representing SKF will be Don Poland, president of SKF Service Division, North America, and Dan Donnelly, vice president of sales, SKF Service Division.

SKF is a regular supporter of Texas A&M University, actively contributing to the University by offering SKF experts as course instructors and knowledge for curriculum development.

SKF USA Inc., headquartered in Lansdale, Pa., is a leading provider of bearing, sealing, lubrication and linear motion technologies, as well as a full range of specialized services.
