SKF Launches Intrinsically Safe Vibration Monitor at Offshore Europe 2009

SKF, the leading knowledge engineering company, is launching the SKF Multilog On-line System DMx, an innovative vibration monitor that has been certified as intrinsically safe; at Offshore Europe 2009 on Stand 1472. The system conforms to the API-670 standard, and is ATEX and IECEx certified, making it ideal for use with critical machinery such as gas and steam turbines, generators, motors, pumps, fans and compressors in both non-hazardous and hazardous Oil and Gas applications.

The Multilog On-line System DMx combines machine protection and condition monitoring functionality in a single device that can be mounted directly on the machine skid. The unit provides continuous data acquisition to predict and prevent a failure, protecting machinery by alarming operators to problems that could lead to a potential catastrophic failure. The system's compact modular design means that minimum cabling, cabinets and isolation barriers are required, saving time and money during installation. Furthermore, its low power consumption provides ongoing energy savings.

The new Multilog system forms part of SKF's extensive range of condition monitoring products designed for the Oil and Gas industry. This range also includes theMicrolog Analyzer CMXA51-IS - an ATEX-certified, intrinsically safe, rugged and portable, hand-held instrument for collecting vibration, process, and dynamic data in hazardous environments - and the SKF Multilog WMx - a wireless monitoring device, certified for ATEX Zone 2, which is versatile and easy to install, making it ideal for drilling and transporting equipment. The SKF Multilog WMx is particularly suited for temporary installations; troubleshooting; equipment that is difficult to access or has moving components, such as a crane; or equipment that is in transit or frequently moved.

All SKF condition monitoring devices interface with the SKF @ptitude Monitoring Suite of software, allowing seamless collection of data from multiple devices, simple analysis, and integrated reporting for a comprehensive picture of asset conditions at one or more sites.
