NKE GmbH (Austria) said its new headquarters facilities in Stadtgut Steyr Industrial and Commercial Services Park will soon be complete and ready for occupancy, more than doubling the current floorspace.
Founded in 1996 by a team from Steyr Walzlager-Austria, NKE designs, finish-manufactures, assembles and distributes ball and roller bearings from its current 3,600 square meter facility in Steyr. Components are outsourced, although NKE indicates some hard turning and grinding operations will be expanded at the new facility.
NKE claims over 240 distributors in 60 countries, primarily across Europe. Markets are generally non-automotive : agricultural, rail, industrial, and power turbine.
The company currently employs nearly 200 people in Steyr. Its reported sales of approximately #8364; 43 million (USD $60 million) in 2008 were up sharply from 2007.
The new combined headquarters office, manufacturing, warehouse and logistics facility has been under construction since July 2008. Completed, it will be the largest combined facility in the Stadtgut Steyr Industrial Park.
Offices will occupy approximately 3,000 square meters, while the production floorspace totals approximately 6,000 square meters including assembly, quality control, packaging and logistics. The attached automated high-bay warehouse is 1,600 square meters.
Overall, NKE's industrial park property is 22,000 square meters, with the option to add an adjacent parcel of 13,000 square meters.
NKE currently plans to move and establish the new headquarters in early June. The move from its current facility is scheduled to consume the days between May 29 and June 3, however, so business-as-usual is expected to resume on June 4.
