On April 1, 2009, Mr. Jörg Walz and Mr. Matthias Mederacke became members of the Corporate Communication team at the Schaeffler Group.
At the communication department at the Automotive division, Mr. Walz is taking over responsibility from Dr. Gabriele Freitag, who is currently on parental leave. This means that he is now the media contact and is responsible for providing information about product innovations and news of the engine, transmission and chassis systems of the Schaeffler Group. Mr. Walz will also be reporting on cooperation and joint projects with Continental in the automotive sector. In addition, he will act as deputy to the Director of Corporate Communication and company spokesman, Detlef Sieverdingbeck.
Mr. Walz studied communication science and marketing and has comprehensive knowledge of the automobile industry. He gained this knowledge from various perspectives, namely as a journalist and author, press spokesman of Alfa Romeo Germany, deputy director of product communication at Volkswagen as well as head of marketing and PR of the Kittner automobile trade group and of KTM Sportcar.
Mr. Matthias Mederacke has been appointed successor to Dr. Thomas Reuss, who was responsible for internal communication at the Schaeffler Group. Dr. Reuss is leaving the company at his own request in order to work freelance. After finishing a course of study in social science,
Mr. Mederacke completed a postgraduate degree in public relations. He started his career as coordinator for public relations at Opel Eisenach GmbH. Subsequently, Mr. Mederacke was employed in internal communication and public relations and as head of corporate communication at different locations of Adam Opel AG. He was most recently responsible for internal communication at Opel Eisenach GmbH.
Along with the development of internal corporate media, Matthias Mederacke will focus on change management communication in the Schaeffler Group.
Mr. Walz and Mr. Mederacke will be based in Herzogenaurach and will report directly to Detlef Sieverdingbeck, Director of Corporate Communication.
